3D Printing in Color
Posted on May 8th, 2006 No commentsFrom Z Corp web site
Z Corporation has introduced more innovations than any other provider of rapid prototyping solutions, including development of the fastest 3D printers, the world’s only color 3D printers, and high-definition 3D printing capabilities. Our 3D printers create physical models from computer-aided design (CAD) data by using an inkjet print-head to deposit a liquid binder that solidifies layers of powder. This cutting-edge technology supports a full line of 3D printers that deliver the speed, low operating costs, and high-quality models that product developers need to compete in today’s global market.
I suggest you look through their web site. This is amazing stuff!
Take a look at the video. Basically this printer will print what ever CAD file you have with PVC material. one of the printer models will even add color!
You could print yourself an army in about an hour. Add terrain with detail to rival Forge World! The price would also rival Forge World as it is very expensive at this time.
The machine alone costs between $25,000 – $30,000. They state that a hand held piece runs at about $10.00. That’s almost $3.00 for a 3cm x 3cm x 3cm cube. Not very economical at the moment but either was color printing when it first came out.
The printers can use different material depending on your needs of flexibility and strength. It can even make molds without the need to sculpt your own master pieces.
